Q Restaurant offers taste of asian fusion

Quee Huynh has been playfully bolstering the menu at Q Restaurant in Orland Park since it opened last July. And her sister Quan has been behind the bar, crafting an ever-expanding selection of martinis, for which the restaurant has become known. But the selections are now so varied that many customers have retreated to their comfort zones, ordering favorite dishes time and time again, and the sisters can have a hard time encouraging diners to try something new.

Q Restaurant fuses French, Vietnamese

The pair of sisters running the new Q Restaurant along 159th Street have been in the business for years, but finally realized it was time to open their own place. "We have a lot of guts and we want to wipe a clean slate. We want to do everything from scratch," said Ellie Huynh, co-owner of Q Restaurant.

Q Restaurant. You have to root for a restaurant like this. Quee Huynh was all of 19 years old when she came to this country, and now, at the tender age of 26, she's chef and owner of this Vietnamese fusion restaurant in Orland Park that opened in July. The neat-as-a-pin, brightly lit dining room seats 90, and the menu, largely Vietnamese with occasional Thai and French accents, is very approachable. You might assume that the beefsteak entree, topped with two fried eggs, is a concession to American tastes, but it's a recipe handed down from Huynh's grandfather.
